Activities in San Antonio

Spring and fall are there recommended times of year to visit San Antonio. With hot summers reaching temperatures in the high 90s, spring and fall offer more mild and comfortable conditions from mid-60s to mid-80s for exploring the city. With a milder climate than most other parts of the country, winters are also popular with tourists wanting to escape the cold elsewhere.

San Antonio is most known for its Tex-Mex cuisine. From tacos and enchiladas to barbacoa and margaritas, you won’t be searching very long when looking for great food. Some must-try restaurants include La Gloria, Rosario’s Mexican Cafe y Cantina, and The Original Blanco Café. German cuisine and dishes are also popular around the city which reflects its German heritage. 

There is a range of accommodation options to choose from when in San Antonio to suit all price ranges. From luxury hotels and boutique accommodations to B&B’s and lower-budget options, there’s something to cater to everyone such as the Drury Plaza Hotel San Antonio Riverwalk and O’Casey’s Boutique Inn.

Visiting the historic and cultural sites in San Antonio is a must such as the historical landmark The Alamo and a visit to the San Fernando Cathedral.

The VIA Metropolitan Transit is the city’s main transport system linking routes between all popular attractions, stores & restaurants, and residential areas. Taxis are also available for quick transport around the city, and for those wanting to do some sightseeing as they travel, rental cars, bikes, and scooters are all available too.

  • It is home to the largest Mexican market in the US, Market Square (El Mercado)
  • The city has a significantly strong military presence due to its multiple bases in the city and is nicknamed Military City USA as a result.
  • The city has been a popular location in the film industry with movies like Spy Kids and Miss Congeniality filmed there.
